Citizens for Greater Idaho comments on Portland plan to ban trade with Texas

Citizens for Greater Idaho comments on Portland plan to ban trade with Texas:

“The proposal before the Portland City Council to ban trade with Texas is unconstitutional.  A free-trade agreement is one of the fundamental aspects of the union of states that is the US.  The city council voting for this would be tantamount to seceding from the US.

The City Council’s consideration of this idea makes us all the more concerned about the long-term future of Oregon.  Following the election of Trump, a Portlander submitted a prospective petition for a ballot initiative to put secession from the US on the state ballot.  Southern and eastern Oregon do not want to be a part of Oregon if Oregon secedes. Idaho doesn’t want to be cut off from ocean trade if the West Coast secedes.  We believe that moving the Oregon/Idaho border is the right way to resolve the tensions within Oregon,” stated Citizens for Greater Idaho in a press release posted to their website.
