Statement on Yesterday's Oregon Election Results

November 04, 2026

The results of yesterday’s election only reinforce why the long-term solution for Eastern Oregon is to change its governance from Oregon to Idaho.  Yet again, Eastern Oregonians’ wishes were completely nullified by Portland metro area voters, and our communities will be denied the governance of the candidate that we voted for in overwhelming numbers.  In addition, the Willamette Valley’s leftward partisanship will ensure that the Oregon legislature is once again supermajority Democrat, despite the fact that Eastern Oregonians in Greater Idaho counties elected only Republicans to statewide office.   It is more obvious than ever that there is no future as part of Oregon for Eastern Oregon counties other than as a minority population with no voice or political power over our own futures.  If we want true representative government and the ability to protect and preserve our communities and way of life, it will have to happen at the local level until a border change is achieved. Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho will continue to work towards the goal of changing Eastern Oregon governance from Oregon to Idaho, as the voters in 13 counties have asked us to do.
